Push Your Swing to the Limit with TrackMan Speed Training

Virtually every golfer would love to swing the club faster, and you probably count yourself among that group. But how often do you actually work on training yourself to increase your swing speed? There might be more potential speed in there just waiting to be unlocked.

Toward that end, it’s worth spending some time in the TrackMan Speed Training area to work on gaining speed and the yardage that comes with it. Let’s take a quick look at how this function operates so you can try it out on your next visit to GolfCave.

Finding This Feature

The TrackMan Speed Training feature is pretty much hiding in plain sight. On TrackMan 9.4, you can look toward the bottom of the screen and select the Speed Training feature. Once it is selected, you’ll be all ready to get started. Check out our CaveTip on YouTube to find how to use this feature as well.

Of course, the speed of your swing is always monitored when using TrackMan, but the difference here is that you don’t have to use a ball when measuring your speed. Instead of actually hitting a shot, you can just make a practice swing with a club or a training aid and see what speed you are capable of producing. Make as many swings as you would like in this mode before going back to some of the other areas of the TrackMan interface.

An Important Benefit

It might not seem like a big difference to make a swing without a ball while using TrackMan, but it can actually free up your mind to cut it loose and produce maximum power. When the ball is down there to be hit, you will be – if only subconsciously – trying to at least hit it somewhat accurately. Many golfers tighten up a bit at impact rather than really letting the clubhead tear through the hitting area.

You can leave those worries to the side without the ball in the way while using the TrackMan Speed Training mode. Also, if you want to measure your speed with a speed training device instead of a standard club, you are free to do that, as well. After you are warmed up, consider stopping into the TrackMan Speed Training mode for at least a few swings at the start of your session before you go into other areas and add accuracy and precision back to your list of priorities.
