Leveraging TrackMan AI to Build a Better Game

It seems you can’t go anywhere these days without hearing something about artificial intelligence, or AI. Modern machine learning has made its way into just about every part of life, and yes, that now includes your golf game. TrackMan is the gold standard in golf simulator technology. In the most recent TrackMan 9.4 update, you’ll have the option to take advantage of its AI capabilities to improve your game and produce better results both in our caves and out on the course. Let’s take a closer look at how it works and why you’d want to put it to use. In addition to reading below, watch our AI Video Analysis |CaveTip on YouTube

A Familiar Interface

Before you start using the TrackMan AI video analysis tool, you’ll get started just like you always have – by making a swing and recording it on video. That recording will include both down-the-line and face-on angles, and you can easily move the recording forward and back to watch the swing progress. If you aren’t interested in using the AI capabilities, you’ll still see all of the usual features that are present in the TrackMan interface, including data points like carry distance, club head speed, and much more.

If you do want to try out the AI features, look for an icon near the top of the screen in between your two swing videos – it looks like three little stars. Click on that, give it a second to work its magic behind the scenes, and you’ll soon have some new analysis and capabilities available to explore.

Gain a Clear Picture

In some ways, this TrackMan AI technology is like having a coach on hand with you, even if you are practicing by yourself. After the AI analysis loads up, you can pick which camera angle you want to analyze and then dive in deeper to explore how you are doing. Click on the “Auto analyze” tab on the left side of the screen and select which elements you want to track. Then, automatically, a set of overlays will appear on your swing to show you things like shoulder line, hip line, wrist path, and more.

If you don’t find these overlays to be particularly helpful when viewing just your own swing, consider comparing yourself side-by-side with another video that is available within TrackMan. There is a great collection of professional swings built into the system, so just go to Compare Mode and pick out a player that you’d like to see. Now, you can have the same overlays on both sides of the screen, on yours and on the professional that you choose. This is a nice way to catch some mistakes in your swing and determine how you might want to adjust.
